MY BUCKET LIST TOP 5 CITIES TO VISIT

orangeandsteel.com

Travel is becoming more popular these days. People travel to explore new places, and experience different cultures. Travel is also an opportunity to meet new people and gain new perspectives on life. I have put together my top 5 cities to visit in the next year or two.

If you are looking for some travel inspiration, I’ve rounded up the cities I would love to visit in no particular order. I hope they make it to your bucket list.

MY TOP 5 CITIES TO VISIT

My top 5 cities to visit are as follows:

DUBAI

Even though I have never been to Dubai, it has been on my list of must-visit places for a long time. This will be my first city to visit now, and you bet I will write about my experience. “the last tourist in Dubai” lol!

Dubai is a city that epitomises grandeur and is renowned for its breathtaking beauty. What started as a humble pearl fishing village underwent rapid development following the discovery of oil. Today, Dubai ranks as one of the wealthiest among the seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates federation.

In Dubai, you will come across the iconic Burj Khalifa, which holds the distinction of being the tallest building globally. With over 160 storeys, it serves as a prominent centrepiece that immediately captures your attention. I am eagerly looking forward to taking in the stunning views of the city from the top.

Discover the marvel of Palm Jumeirah, an artificial island shaped like a palm tree. You can witness the breathtaking sunrise from a hot air balloon or bask in the serenity of the stunning beaches. For the daring and adventurous, the Dubai Aquarium offers the opportunity to swim with sharks and push the limits of excitement.

The Miracle Garden is another breathtaking outdoor recreational spot that is worth visiting in Dubai. Additionally, the Dubai Global Village offers a unique opportunity to experience various cultures and cuisines from around the globe.

If shopping is your thing, Dubai Mall is a must-visit destination, and you can cap off your experience with a visit to the world-renowned Burj Al Arab, the first seven-star hotel globally. With its diverse offerings of adrenaline-pumping adventures, cultural experiences and historical landmarks, Dubai is a top-tier destination for any avid traveller.

KENYA

Kenya is one of the few places on earth that truly defines the exotic beauty of jungle safari. It offers an excellent wildlife viewing of the big five; Elephants, Lions, Rhinos, Buffalos, and Leopards in their natural tropical surrounding.

The Safari Experience

Being very adventurous, I wouldn’t mind the big cat sighting at the famous Masai Mara National Reserve, meeting elephants in Amboseli, playing with giraffes at Giraffe Manor, or gazing at Lake Nakuru, which is decked with tens of thousands of colourful flamingos.

Beaches and Mountain

Apart from the safari experience, there are many other things to enjoy in Kenya, such as the picturesque beaches, enchanting romantic scenery, and Mount Kenya, which is the second-highest mountain on the African continent. If you enjoy mountain climbing, then Mount Kenya is a must-visit destination for you.

Kenya is saturated in a rich and amazing culture you would love like the Samburu people. They are famous for their brightly coloured beads. I would love to immerse myself in their culture and perhaps even learn a thing or two about crafting these beautiful adornments.

SANTORINI

Santorini is a unique and unparalleled romantic destination that is worth visiting. You can stop at the renowned Blue Dome Church in Firostefani, take in the stunning sunset views in Oia, and indulge in a boat tour while savouring the panoramic views of the pristine white town.

More than just its charming beauty, Santorini is a paradise that has witnessed many volcanic eruptions, so there are plenty of historical sights to whet your curiosity.

Some of them are:

The Museum of Prehistoric Thera, the Archaeological Museum of Thera, the Minoan Bronze Age ruins at the Akrotiri Archaeological Site, and a visit to the volcanic island of Nea Kameni are all places for you to explore.

At the base of the cliffs rising to the town of Oia, the port of Ammoudi Bay shines above sparkling turquoise waters. Ammoudi, known for its attractive and old-fashioned Greek Tavernas, has secluded coves ideal for swimming. Another popular activity is cliff diving if that’s what gets your adrenaline pumping.

If you prefer a more leisurely but equally thrilling experience, rent a sailboat to take you to the volcano for a refreshing swim in the hot springs.

SINGAPORE

Singapore is an incredible city with a fantastic location and exciting tourist attractions. Known as The Lion City, Singapore has a lot to offer. There are numerous reasons to visit; It’s a small city full of fascinating attractions and diverse cultures.

I would love to explore the Marina Bay Sands Resort complex in Singapore, because of its captivating features such as a canal running through the mall, the Art Science Museum, and the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark.

For nature enthusiasts, a visit to Bay East Garden is a must. The breathtaking beauty of this garden will entice you to explore it further. Within the garden, you can witness the stunning Supertree Grove and the world’s highest indoor waterfall and cloud forest.

The Rainforest Zoo is another fascinating sight to behold. However, if you are looking for more, there’s the Night Safari, River Safari (including a giant panda forest), and Jurong Bird Park.

ROME

“All roads lead to Rome, right?”

Yes! the ancient historic city made it to my bucket list of top 5 cities to visit.

The city is filled with many historical relics and fascinating landmarks. Some are the Flavian Amphitheatre, the Vatican city, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Centro Storico, and the Castel Sant’Angelo National Museum.

The Colosseum is one of the most iconic landmarks of the City, it attracts millions of tourists every year. The structure is 2-millennia-old and located in the historic centre of Rome. It was the biggest Amphitheatre in the Roman Empire with a capacity of about 60,000 spectators.

Also, the Trevi Fountain is the biggest and most beautiful fountain in the city. It features the statue of Neptune (god of the sea) flanked by two Tritons and other carved sculptures.

Romans believe that if you throw a coin over your shoulder into the fountain, you are ensured a return trip to Rome. Also, the coins are gathered by designated officials in the city of Rome, and the money is donated to Caritas, a Catholic charity that helps the poor and homeless.

Rome has a museum entirely dedicated to pasta. I will make a stop when I visit.

I hope you found inspiration for your next trip.

Let me know which cities are your Top 5 cities to visit.
