IWD -TO THE WOMEN THAT LOVE ME

International Women's Day

International Women’s Day is an annual celebration dedicated to honouring women’s achievements and their contributions to society. On this special day, it’s essential to recognise and appreciate the incredible women around us who have played significant roles in our lives. Personally, I have been fortunate enough to have some wonderful women in my life who have impacted me in different ways. These women include my beloved mother, my darling mother-in-law, my sister Alero, my sister Donne, and my dearest friend Oseme. In this blog post, I want to highlight just how special these women are to me and the impact they have had on my life.

My Beloved Mother

My mother has been my rock and pillar of strength for as long as I can remember. Her quiet strength and calmness in difficult situations are admirable qualities that have served as a source of inspiration to me over the years.

I can’t forget all the times she stood by me and made me feel safe, the times I was in the hospital, and she spent the night on a chair beside me just to watch over me. Or the times when I had to leave for work at 5 am and mom insisted on walking me to the main road where my colleague was waiting to pick me up because she wanted to protect me from hoodlums.

I asked her how she would have done this if they were more than us. She said she would have fought them with all her might because she won’t allow anyone hurt her daughter. Her response got me emotional, and I carry it in my heart always as a reminder that there is nothing like a mother’s love. She is my International Women’s Day queen.

Her love for God and obedience to Him are pure and inspiring. I have learned so much from her about what it means to be a good person, and I am forever grateful for her love and guidance.

My Mother-In-Love

In my early twenties, I often heard scary stories about mothers-in-law, and I remember praying for one who would be like a mother and a good friend to me. It turns out, God gave me way more than I asked for. My mother-in-law is a true blessing. Her love is so evident, and she gives without expecting anything in return. She’s always very encouraging, gives helpful advice, and checks on me regularly, even when I forget to do the same. I’m incredibly grateful for her presence in my life. I’ve experienced nothing but peace with her, and I cherish that. People like her are hard to come by, and I feel truly fortunate to have her.

Alero

Alero has always been there for me, ready to lend a helping hand whenever I needed it. She’s not just a good listener; she’s an excellent one, always patient and understanding. I’ve seen how she’s worked on herself over the years, and she’s become someone I really admire for her personal growth and development. Alero used to run a clothing brand, and I was one of her customers. She made my life so much easier with her business, especially as a woman in the corporate world. What really stands out to me is her kindness, selflessness, and her commitment to always improving herself. She’s also an amazing mother and a shining example of what it means to be a successful woman.

Donne

Donne is a force to be reckoned with, full of energy and a happy-go-lucky person who can light up any room. She has a generous soul and a heart for the underserved. Donne started a foundation in memory of our dad, who passed away in 2020.

The foundation has sponsored children’s education, provided uniforms and textbooks, and today launched an ICT centre in one of the schools the foundation sponsors. Her dedication to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on people’s lives is inspiring to me. She shows that one person can make a difference no matter how small the impact may seem.

oseme

Oseme is my dearest friend, and I cannot begin to talk about how great of a friend she has been. We have become like sisters since our university days, and her loyalty and caring attitude are some of the things I admire about her. Her ability to run a successful side business while working in a top organisation is impressive, and her entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic are qualities that anyone would be proud of. I admire her strength and resilience in facing the challenges that life sometimes brings her way.

These beautiful women in my life have played a significant role in shaping the person I am today. They are incredible women who have inspired me with their strengths, qualities, and selflessness. Their unwavering support and guidance have been invaluable to me, and their contributions to society are worth celebrating.

As we mark International Women’s Day today, I want us to celebrate and appreciate all the women who have made a difference in our lives. It is time to empower them, support them and celebrate their achievements not just on International Women’s Day but every day.
