Book Review: He Loves Me by Wayne Jacobsen

I stumbled upon this book at my mom’s place, I was looking through the stack of books in her room, and the title caught my attention. I decided to grab it for a quick read. Honestly, it’s one of the best decisions I have ever made. If you are Christian or someone searching for a deeper knowledge of God’s love and yearning for a deeper relationship with him, then this book is for you.

Wayne takes us on a journey of God’s reconciliation with man, and what true relationship means to God. He emphasizes the need to break out of legalism and religious practices using his journey to explain how these practices can be damaging to you and keep you far from God.

Many of us grew up learning about doctrines that kept us in bondage thinking we were ‘spiritual’ and perfect. It was all performance-based. This led to feelings of guilt when one falls short, ever striving to do better to please God and then getting depleted in the process; a never-ending cycle. Many others lose interest in knowing God because of what Christianity has been made out to be, and how judgmental religious people are. Living by religious doctrines and false teachings is not what God requires from us.

Wayne further talks about the love of God and how experiencing it will change our lives forever.  This may take a while as you begin your journey of knowing God, but it will be worth it in the end. Like every other thing in life, it is a journey, as they say, “it’s a marathon, not a sprint”.

I experienced different emotions just reading this book, but the best experiences were freedom and joy. It was liberating, helping me understand the simplicity of God, and how much He loves us. It’s so simple that sometimes it appears complicated.

I strongly recommend this book. No matter where you are in your relationship with God, you will find something for you.
