Is it too late to say ‘Happy New Year’? I hope not.
I know it’s April already and the fourth month of 2022, but I will say it anyway. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Although there is so much to look forward to as I have a lot of things planned, I choose to reflect on the past year through the lens of gratitude.
Looking back, I wouldn’t have had my 2021 any other way. Of course, it wasn’t without its challenges, but wonderful things happened that I am beyond grateful for. I hope you reflect with me as I take you through them.
LIFE
My life isn’t perfect, but I love it. Life is precious, and I am grateful for mine. A lot of things may not have gone the way I planned, but I know better now to trust God and His plans for the precious gift he has bestowed on me.
GOD’S LOVE AND PROTECTION
The gift of life isn’t the only thing God blessed me with. He also blessed me with His unending love and protection. One thing that really changed for the better in 2021 was my connection with God, and for that, I am grateful. He showed me His love in numerous ways, and if I begin to list them all, It will take forever.
GOOD HEALTH
They say good health is underrated and I totally agree. 2021 was a year of good health, and except for a few times when the weather affected me, there was no serious health issue. There are millions of people suffering from one health complication to another. Being healthy is definitely worth being grateful for, I do not take it for granted.
A BEAUTIFUL MARRIAGE
Marriage isn’t a bed of rose as they say, It comes with its own challenges. There were some difficult times last year, but I am grateful for how God gave us the grace and strength to walk through them. The need for good communication and the willingness to work together cannot be over emphasised. I am grateful for the friendship we share and how we grow together. I can say that marriage has been good to me and I am positive it will remain so in decades to come by God’s grace.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS
I can’t comprehend how people think they can do without family. Yes, they may not be the best people in the world and may not have the best traits but they will always remain our family. I am grateful for how supportive and caring my family and friends were last year, and for the moments shared and the memories created.
MEETING NEW PEOPLE
I met wonderful people in 2021 that added some colour to my life in general, and I am grateful for the value exchange. The relationships formed have been meaningful and I look forward to long-lasting friendships. At this point in our lives, we need solid friendships, there’s no room for toxic relationships.
PROGRESS IN MY BUSINESSES
Little progress is still progress, right? Well, nobody can tell me otherwise. I am grateful for the progress I have made in my businesses; Orange and Steel, and my recently launched fashion brand, Kaliki By Ete(I will write more about this soon). I am grateful for the process and all the things I have learnt in the journey so far. I am excited about what the future holds.
CHARITY
It is one thing to be a recipient of God’s blessings and favour, and another thing to be used by God to help others. I am grateful for every time I was able to help someone financially, emotionally, and in any other way. It was wonderful knowing I could make people happy and help them to the best of my capacity.
TRAVEL
If you have seen my posts on Instagram documenting my trip to Dubai, then you would know I am super grateful for this. So grateful I could make the trip despite all the challenges that almost prevented me from travelling. Let’s not forget my Abuja trip too. Travelling is such a beautiful experience, and I am grateful I could do some trips in 2021.
PEACE
Nothing beats peace, and in 2021, I enjoyed peace which I am grateful for. I am grateful for being calm in chaotic situations and experiencing bliss and peace after little storms.
The year 2021 may not have been ‘the year’ for you, but I am certain that if you reflect well enough, you will find things to be grateful for. Rather than focus on the things you couldn’t achieve, you should focus on the things you achieved, no matter how insignificant they might seem.
I look forward to having a great year filled with more adventure, joy, love, and success in 2022, and I wish you the same.
What are you grateful for?

I’m always grateful 🙏 for sound health for me, hubby , kids , family and my loved ones as a whole. Being a healthcare worker, I know that good health is the best gift ever from God.
Thank you for the reminder to remain thankful.
